There are two simple hinges which attach the lid with the main bottom part of the box and when you lift the lid the words ‘Protect and cherish; Give wings to fly’ can be read and the box has a 7.5 x 11cm rectangular by 3cm deep area in which to store small keepsakes. When the lid is closed there is a rectangular inset which has a raised style willow tree image of a mother and daughter standing up cuddling each other in a loving embrace.
